workers mp shed tears before the committee

Workers representative in parliament Teopista Nantongo senabulya has
shed tears before the parliamentary committee on Gender ,labour and
social development after the labour minister Mwesigwa Rukutana
Rubbished her claims that some Ugandan girls that were exported to
Iraq for labour were mistreated.

The legislator said the committee had interfaced with some of the
girls who had returned and they have both physical and documentary
evidence on how these girls were sexually harassed and some lost their
internal organs.

But In response Rukutana said he got a report from the company showing
that none of these girls was mistreated, and he is not aware of any
girls stranded in Iraq since he has not received any complaints in his
ministry, apart from allegations made by colleagues in parliament.

Nantongo says she is so touched by the response of the minister who
was supposed to inform the committee how far his ministry had gone to
rescue the remaining Girls after only 12 out of 150 managed to return
and others are now languishing in Iraq.

The minister together with other ministers of gender, Lukia Nakadama
and Madada Sulaiman had appeared before this committee to present the
ministry’s performance report for the ending financial year 2013/2014.
