National Housing says that Uganda is in shortage of houses due high demand on market.
The Nationa Housing says that Uganda’s housing scarcity is 1.6 million houses per year .
It indicated that only kampala needs 700000 houses since the demand for houses is in kampala.
This was revealed by the Development manager National Housing David Wanagwa while National housing announcing to double its effort to construct 1000 houses for purchase per year to met the demand so as they move from 260 house it has been building every year .
He said that the shortage of houses is also caused by failure by government to invest in house construction and helping housing construction to access funds to build affordable houses for Ugandans.
In another development the National Housing has announced a new restructuring exercise in which some of its workers will lose jobs starting this month.
National housing said that the restructuring exercise intends to enable the company have highly skilled workers who will impart technological skills in real estate so as they attract more customers in the competitive real estate industry.
This was disclosed by the chief Executive officer of National housing Felix Okoboi while speaking to journalists at National housing head offices in industrial area.
He said that the current staff of 130 members will have to re-apply for jobs .
