MPs afraid to speak in Parliament

Some Members of Parliament in Uganda are afraid to speak in the house until their party chief whips order them to do so.

The Speaker of Uganda Parliament Rebecca Kadaga says he wishes MPs would revert to the old system where a Member of Palrimanet would be free to express his or her views.

Kadaga says Uganda would do better if it had no political parties.

The speaker urges MPs to act independently of their political parties. She rallied Speakers to always balance the desires of the population and those of the state.
