10 babies with heart problems recieve 1000 dollars

The Uganda tourism Board has raised 10.000 U.S dollars worth 25
million shillings for the Uganda heart institute to enable 10 babies
go under cardiac operations.

The Uganda tourism board together with the Uganda cancer institute
last month launched a drive through the martyrs walk in a bid to
promote tourism and the same time save children with heart problems.

SO far some companies have come out to extend a hand to the heart
institute include MTN Uganda, Uganda communications commission, Bank
of Uganda, and Air Uganda.

Uganda ‘s tourism board deputy CEO John Ssempebwa says the martyrs
walk scheduled this Sunday will market the other places where the
martyrs where killed as where as raising money for the operation of
children with heart diseases between the age of 12 and below.

The director of Uganda heart institute Dr John Magino says they need
about 1000 dollars to be able to operate children with minor defects.
The deputy director of the institute DR Tom Lwabi says 16000 children
are born with heart problems and half of these have serious defects
which require treatment.
Lwabi adds that right now over 900 children require surgery.

The head of cardiac surgery department under the heart institute DR
Tom Mwambu says the drive is very necessary to help those children
whose parents cannot met the cost of treatment.
