The Africa Travel Association (ATA), established in 1975, is a leading global trade association promoting travel and tourism to Africa is to organize a five day long congress slated to be hosted in Uganda from November 11th to November 16th, 2014.

Uganda had failed to effectively market her tourism endowments to the world due to its poor budgets and corruption of Uganda government officials.

Uganda has received over the years a least influx of tourists annually in the East Africa Region compared to other countries in East Africa. The East African countries are Uganda, Kenya, Rwanda, Burundi and Tanzania.

However, following Africa Travel Associations choice of the Republic of Uganda to host its 39th Congress, Susan Muhwezi, the president of the Uganda Hotel Owners Association who is also the president of ATA Ugandan Chapter, explains that the event will be a step towards establishing Uganda’s presence in the North American market.
