MPs to sue UCU for expelling pregnant girls

The National Youth MP Monica Amoding has threatens to sue UCU for expeling pregnant students. She says it is a violation of their right to education and that religious values come second the human rights. She advises them to drop the policy or else suffer in court.

Yesterday the Vice Chancellor of Uganda Christian Unversity said they can not allow immorality…single students getting Pregant.

A couple of weeks back 26 girls were suspended from Uganda Christian University’s Kabale affiliate college for conceiving before marriage. They were found to be pregnant during random tests.

Godwin Kiiza, the Dean of Students, says the students who were suspended were admitted as single students and they are not supposed to be engaged in a sexual immorality, that is, sex before marriage. UCU teaches students who are only accountable to God.
