The Committee report from the team that was tasked to look into the Uganda Muslim community rivalry shows in its findings that members of opposition and government were benefiting much from the Muslim leadership rivalry. It shows that the government leaned on the main supreme Muslim leadership, while the opposition was in support of the breakaway function.
The committee that was set up by president Museveni, a Christian, a couple of years ago was comprised of a team of 3 members from the Government, 3 people from the breakaway Musim function based at Kibuli and 3 Sheikhs from the main Muslim leadership.
President Museveni received the official committee findings on Monday. The committee report further identifies a road map that will conclude with a united leadership and Uganda Muslim Community following a new constitution. The constitution will be composed by all the Muslim rival parties in Uganda.
The committee that looked into the problems dividing the Muslim community in Uganda was headed by Prof. Tarisis Kabwegyere, a Christian. Kabwegyere says that the unity of Muslims in Uganda may only be guaranteed by a review of the Uganda Muslim Supreme Council constitution.
