Mps have called for sacking of the ministers public service for incompetence as parliament approved the report that investigated the delayed salaries of public servants by a select committee of parliament.
Mps made the recommendations while discussing the report of select committee that investigated delayed payment of salaries of civil servants.
Mps who include Florence Ibi, Monica Amoding ,Betty Namooze and Geofrey Ekanya said that the minister of public service are the ones causing inefficacies and irregularies in the payment of civil servants due to their failure monitor the officers performance in this ministry.
The woman Member of Parliament for kaberamaido district Florence Ibi said that ministers of public service Henry Muganwa kajura and Sezi Mbaguta are inaccessible and their performance in the ministry is questionable and that is the reason some of the offices in this ministry are closed and people who need their service miss out.
The leader of opposition Philip Wafula oguttu demanded the leadership of the ministry of public service to apologize for the mess in the ministry regarding payment of civil servants.
Wafula said that payroll for public servants should be transferred to the ministry of labour and he rejected any proposal to put the public servant pay roll to the military hands saying even the UPDF is not clean.
He said that government should investigate the matter related to delayed salaries of public servants and ghost workers on payroll ant the culprits are punished and their properties are consificated.
The chairperson of the select committee on delayed salaries of public servants Rapeal Magyezi said that government should respond to the findings of parliament on delayed salaries of public servants by August this year and bring a statement to parliament showing the action taken against officer who will have found guilty.
Mps in their report found out that some workers get pay slips and when they go to their accounts they no money. Yet its against the public service standing orders.
However the minister for public service Henry Muganwa kajura
Failed to explain to parliament the cause of delayed payment of public servants.
The Prime Minister Patrick Amama Mbabazi said that government will investigate more about the issues and recommendations raised in the report and take action.
