East Africa gets “internet ring”

East Africans are now happy after a more reliable Internet with fewer down periods was launched in Rwanda, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and Burundi.

The Liquid Telecom, a South Africa-based firm, has already completed laying the 17,000-kilometre fibre optic cable which will re-route Internet traffic.

Internet customers are now free to start feeling the benefits from the Liquid Telecom.

The completion of the East Africa Fibre ring is a step towards building Africa’s digital future and giving better value for everyone using our network.

The internet ring is the largest single fibre network and the first of its kind in Africa.

The Liquid Telecom fibre optic network will help the people of East Africa to realise their dream of offering universal internet access and 4G mobile services.

The Liquid Telecom is a privately owned provider of data, voice and Internet services in Africa. It has franchises in Botswana, DRC, Kenya, Lesotho, Mauritius, Nigeria, Rwanda, South Africa, Uganda, UK, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
