East African girl to head AU Mission

 

The Deputy Chairperson of the African Union Commission (DSRCC), Lydia Wanyoto Mutende has been selected to head the AU Mission in Somalia until the making of the official appointment of the replacement. Wanyoto is a former representative of Uganda to the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA). Her new appointment takes office effective July 2, 2014 when the incumbent ambassador Mahamat Saleh Annadif retires office according to the news statement issued by AMISOM in Mogadishu.

Ambassador Mahamat Saleh Annadif on Wednesday held several separate meetings with the president of Somalia, the Somalia’s prime minister and the speaker of Somali Parliament.
