UPDF representative in parliament Gen Julius Oketa has asked
parliament to support the initiative to tighten
security as it is a regional act since terrorists have made several
threats which cannot be underrated.
He added that terrorists now seem to be targeting institutions like
parliaments as it happened in Somalia.
Meanwhile Bugweri County MP Abdu Katuntu also questioned why
parliament doesn’t have CCTV Cameras to monitor security at
parliament.
He says that mps leave by the mercy of God since parliament depends on
the physical security check ups.
Last year after the Westgate Mall attack incident in Kenya the
speaker of parliament informed members that parliament was in process
of procuring CCTV Cameras with the purpose of improving security at
parliament but up to now nothing has been implemented
Ms Rebecca Kadaga assured legislators last year that the parliamentary
commission took some steps to procure CCTV Cameras to protect MPs and
the entire parliament.
Last week two youths were arrested at parliament with two pigs
colored yellow demonstrating about the increasing unemployment
affecting the youth of the country corruption among other vises which
need be addressed.
The youth were remanded by grade one magistrate Elisa Kakooza at
Luzira and they will be produced to KKCA court and face charges on 4th
July this year.
