industrial court to start in july

The long awaited industrial court is likely to start its operations on
July next month.

Workers mp Sam Lyomoki has told a Press conference that the panel of
members from the workers, employers and then from Government who will
work with the judge of this court are being appointed today.

The mp says that about 2000 labor related cases that have been pending
in the high court will be referred to this court to be disposed.

Lyomoki reveals that issues related to occupational safety and unfair
dismissal are dominant in the pending cases to be disposed off.track

The law maker also reveals that the central organization of trade
unions which he serves as the secretary general was planning to start
up a bank for the workers.

He adds that the organization has initially started the bank as a
Sacco but later in future it will be transformed into a bank to assist
the workers to save and later get mortgages.
