Parliament wants CA to change Uganda constitution

Parliament has called for a Constituency Assembly (CA) to handle the proposed amendments to Uganda Constitution and electoral laws ahead of 2016 general elections in Uganda.

A Constitution Assembly is preffered to change Uganda constitution because the parliament of Uganda is dominated by only government supporters. Therefore it is only a true representation of all political opinion in Uganda.

The currently Uganda constitution was promulgated in 1995 after it had been debated upon by the members of the Constituency Assembly. Currently a cabinet committee is working on the proposed constitutional amendments.
