93 billion shillings released for roads repair across the country

The Uganda Roads fund (URF) has released over 93bn shillings to its agencies including KCCA, UNRA, Municipalities, Districts and Town councils for maintenance of the major public roads across the country in this first quarter of the F/Y 2014/15.

KCCA has been given a portion of 5bn shillings and this is mainly to go for the configuration of traffic lights in Wandegeya, Nakawa and Natete among other work. UNRA takes over 68bn while Districts and town council are given 15bn and Municipalities take 5bn.

According to the Executive Director of URF Michael Odongo, a total of 30 districts and four municipalities are to benefit from this money and that the early disbursement of the funds is aimed at avoiding delays in execution of planned programs.

Meanwhile, Uganda Road fund is still withholding over six billion shillings that would have gone to other different districts because their Accounting officers have failed to provide the required information for the District Accounts
