The National union of Drivers, cyclists and Allied workers has joined a trade union with intension of advocating for their Rights.
The group signed a memorandum of understanding with the central organization free Trade union .
The National union of Drivers, cyclists and Allied workers the formed union include Bodaboda cyclists, taxi operators, Bus a lorry drivers and tractor operators.
The new union elected the bodaboda chair man in kampala Abdul kitata as the chairperson.
Abdul kitata said that his first task will be to advocate for the rights of taxi operators whose taxi are impounded by police and taken jail without fait hearing.
The secretary General of the central organization free Trade union Sam Dr.Lyomoki welcomed the decision by the transporters saying that their concerns will be captured by the central organization free Trade union and defend their rights and ask transporters employers to pay them .
Lyomoki also calls the KCCA to enter Negotiations with the drivers and others workers in transport sector to address their grievances so as they carryout business in kampala without harassment and said that if KCCA fails to handle their problems the union will take action.
