EALA speaker ask woment to take political seat

The speaker of the east African legislative assembly, Hon. Margaret Zziwa is urging all women on the African continent to strongly support their fellow women who stand out to contest for various leadership posts at all levels as the way they can increase women power in governance.

Speaking at the national women in politics conference starting today in Kampala, Zziwa reveals that many women tend to neglect and decampaign fellows making them register failures in the fights they are involved in.

Zziwa also challenges those in leadership posts to campaign for the availability of services that women and the girl child need to improve their lives mentioning maternal health programmees among others.

However, the former vice president and presidential aspirant for Sierra Leon Dr. Kadi Cissy warns that it might take 40 years for African women to achieve gender parity if the current challenges face by women who tend to stand out still remain and on this note she advises women to devise means of breaking these challenges.

The three days conference is geared at deliberating on the challenges and strides registered ever since women empower was declared at the universal level
