The Indian Association of Uganda has come out and denied media reports indicating how this entity intends to demolish one of the top schools in Masaka town.
According to the association’s board of trustees chairman Rajin Taylor, the school which was built by Indians long ago will not be demolished unless there is a policy directive by the municipality leaders.
He said the school; much as it was recently reverted back to the Indians, in the agreement they signed, it was stated categorically that the school shall remain.
The agreement was signed between the governor of Uganda protectorate and the Registered Trustees of Indian Education Society during colonial times.
The Sunday Pepper reported that Masaka councilors were planning a demonstration after rumors that the Indians led by Taylor were planning to demolish this school and construct a hotel, but , Ow’ekittibwa Taylor who served in Kabaka’s government said that their association is not going to demolish any school, though it belongs to them.
He says the Indians will never DEMOLISH our school; it will always remain a School built by our forefathers just like it did to other schools and temples in towns of Jinja, Hoima, Mbale among others where such public entities and cemeteries were preserved to date.
