Parliament is in the process of procuring advanced Information Technology (IT) that will provide electronic voting system for MPs.
The Speaker of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga revealed that the electronic voting system to be installed by the end of this year is more reliable and time saving. This revelation comes after a section of the public demanded to know each MP’s position on the controversial Anti-gay bill through a roll-call voting approach.
However Kadaga said that the roll-call method is tedious and time consuming which cannot be used in the legislature. Without mentioning the cost of the system Kadaga said that the procurement of the electronic Voting system is part of the Intelligence security system that is to be installed at the new parliament parking facility.
Meanwhile Kadaga urged the country to be patient regarding the representing the Anti-Homosexuality Bill in parliament. She said that it was not possible for her to recall parliament to handle one item yet the budget process is still high on the agend
