President Yoweri Museveni has called on the youth in Uganda to shun elements that frustrate investors who wish to come and invest in the country. He said that such people deprive the youth of employment opportunities.
“Who will work in those factories? It is not me but you the youth. So help me fight those who sabotage the building of factories where you can get jobs”, he said.
The President was this afternoon passing out over 500 cadres from Central Kampala Division who have been undergoing a-one month political and military science course at Nakivubo Blue Primary School in Kampala district.
The cadres comprised the youth, market vendors, boda-boda riders and some members from Uganda Taxi Operators Association (UTODA).
The President informed them to form groups like SACCOs where they can easily be assisted. He assured them that when funds are available the only crucial requirement necessary is good leadership that will enable the youth access those funds.
The President cited Faridah Mayanja, who has organized several groups of the youth adding that with only Shs.81 million she has helped them to start income generating activities that have lifted members of those groups out of poverty.
President Museveni, who commended the people of Katwe, Kisenyi and Kampala in general for supporting NRM, also asked them to support the Executive Director of Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA), Ms. Jennifer Musisi, who, he noted, has done a good job in the City citing among many others the Kafumbe Mukasa Road that has been reconstructed.
The Kampala Resident Capital City Commissioner, Ms. Aisha Kabanda said the cadres whom the President had passed out will form a nucleus in the poverty eradication drive, among other activities.
The function was attended by the Kampala Deputy Resident Capital City Commissioner, Mr. Allan Kajiki and KCCA leaders.
