Government has given tough conditions to embattled Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago telling him to first withdraw cases he filed before any talks to end the current impasse in KCCA can be done.
This condition was given by presidency/KCCA minister Frank Kagyigi Tumwebaze during a protracted debate that almost saw the budget for KCCA being held by MPs due to what parliament called ‘problems’ in the authority.
Tumwebaze himself conceded that there are problems in the authority though he said these did not begin during his reign but can be sorted out through dialogue.
He says there is nothing hard to discuss but the discussions should be based on honesty and therefore as a god gesture by Lukwago towards these talks, he must first withdraw cases which he took to court.
Tumwebaze says, after this, Lukwago can assemble his legal team to meet with that of government led by attorney general for talks so that the matters can be resolved.
