Government has expressed commitment towards the procurement of the Bicycles for local council chairpersons in the all districts across the country.
The Minister for local government Adolf Mwesigye told parliament that government to use 8 billion shillings to procure bicycles for the chairpersons in the remaining 59 districts.
In the first phase the local government ministry procured bicycles that were supplied to LC 1 chairperson in the 52 districts. Mwesigye explains that the purchase of bicycles in intended to facilitate the local leaders for efficiency in their operations.
Meanwhile Mwesigwa noted that government would not force the regional tier system of governance on the people since they have not asked for it. This follows recommendations by some political commenters that government should adopt the system to improve service delivery and governance issues at the local administrative units
