cabinet told to investigate Railway deal

Parliament has directed the cabinet to bring to house a report regarding the allegations that procurement process of the contract for the standard gauge railway was marred by bribery.
The directed was issued by the speaker of parliament Rebecca Kadaga after the Rwemiyaga county mp Theodro sekikubo presented on the floor a motion seeking for parliament to institute investigations into this matter.
The speaker told government to report to parliament over the matter on Wednesday next week to enable mps to take decision.
Sekikubo and his group wants parliament to investigate the role of the minister of state for works Eng.John Byabagambi and ministry works officials in the procurement process of the contract for the controversial 8 billion shillings standard gauge railway deal.
He accused President Yoweri Museveni of turning himself into the procurement boss at State House and questions when the country started to budget for bribes and commission to be used to train the UPDF.
