Fake courses detected at kyambogo universiry

MPS on the Parliamentary public Accounts committee have been shocked by Kyambogo university after discovering that the university is graduating students with fake degrees and Diplomas in different courses.
This was unearthed by mps while grilling officials from Kyambogo University led by the university secretary Sam stackus Akorimo over the queries of the Auditor general’s report of the financial year 2012/13
The committee chaired by the western region youth Mp Gerald Karuhanga discovered that Kyambogo University is lecturing students on courses which are not accredited by the National Council of higher Education.
The committee also learnt that student who graduated since 2007 to date under these courses have fake degrees and diplomas in over 19 courses which have not been recognized by the Uganda National University Council National Council of Higher since 2007 -2014.

some of the courses which the university offers to students without the approval of National council of Higher Education include; Bachelor of surveying, Bachelor of Engineering in Electronic and Telecommunication Engineering, Higher diploma in civil & building Engineering Ordinary diploma in Mechanical Engineering among others.

The Programs were sent to the National Council on 29th September 2011 for onward accreditation but to date the council has not considered them because they are still going through some processes.

Officials say that the list was submitted to the National Council of Higher Education but their process take a very long process that is why it’s not been accredited.

Kalungu west MP in Kalungu District Ssewungu Gonzaga Joseph said that it’s a pity that some students who acquired with these fake papers might sue the university.

Budadili West MP, Sironko District Nathan Nandala Mafabi said that the committee is going also to verify whether the courses listed this year are approved.
