Police in Kampala is holding four youths arrested after running battles this morning around city square over illegal assembly.
The four including Doreen Nyanjura, Aineomugisha, Heibu Buhweba, Brain Atuhaine were part of the group dubbed as the National Association of the Unemployed who were matching from shop rite to the Ministry of Gender, Labour and social Development.
According to the Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Patrick Oyango the four whose files are being processed for the Directorate of Public Prosecution may be charged with illegal assembly and distributing public peace
Today’s arrests follow a couple of demonstrations in the recent past by different groups of young people protesting the unemployment rates in the country.
While being dragged in the Central Police Station, Doreen Nyanjura the group’s coordinator said that as a person who is unemployed, she had to present her case to the relevant ministry, for the authorities to respond appropriately
