Parliament Vets General Kayihura

The inspector general of police Gen. Edward Kale Kaihura has promised to transform the Uganda police force into a more people friendly and efficient force.
Speaking to journalists at parliament immediately after facing the appointments committee of parliament which is chaired by the speaker of parliament for the renewal of his third term as the IGP, Gen. Kale kaihura was optimistic that the members will approve his appointment.
He said that the police force is facing numerous challenges which he intend to zero on and these include the poor accommodation facilities of police officers which need upgrading, improving community policing, improving station management and customer care, fighting indiscipline within the traffic police among others .
Kaihura explained that standards within the Uganda police force must be upheld and improved so as to ensure quality service, further stressing that he is ready to counter any kind of crime in order to create a peaceful crime free environment for Ugandans.
Meanwhile Gen. Edward Kale Kaihura has dismissed allegations by opposition politicians that he is engaged in partisan politics where he is inclined to the ruling NRM party, saying that he is a public servant who serves the interests of all Ugandans no matter their political affiliation.
Kaihura explained that the statement he made in Makerere for which he is being quoted was only protecting the plight of old people because the youths were attacking the president justifying his leave because of his old age.
