Kadaga directs IGP to investigate wrangles in Jinja market

The speaker of parliament Rebecca Kadaga has written to the inspector general of police Gen. Edward Kale Kaihura directing him to investigate the source wrangles and misunderstandings within Jinja Central Market.
During her tour of the newly constructed market on Sunday after it was gutted by fire recently, Kadaga found out that this market is marred by wrangles emanating from the interim security management committee and concerned vendors who are both claiming leadership of the market, which led to some vendors being scrapped off the list of beneficiaries to occupy the market.
Kadaga has also said that there is a problem in the structure where some of the facilities are so small contrary to the original design of the market.

In the same line, concerned vendors from the same market have petitioned the speaker on the same wrangles which they have attributed to the local government minister Adolf Mwesigye who whom they are blaming of taking sides with the interim security management committee.
The lead petitioner and the chairman of concerned vendors Charles Busuulwa alleged that the minister’s interest is to see to it that the interim security management committee takes over the market from concerned vendors.

The vendors have also noted that their live is at stake because they are being threatened certain individuals like Karangwa who is the NRM treasurer in Jinja district who are claiming authority over the market.
