NRM demand mps in top party executive leadership to quit their parliamentary seats

Top Nrm leadersThe NRM caucus has mounted pressure on the newly appointed party
secretariat bosses telling them to also quit their parliamentary
seats.

The members want the electoral commision to immediately come up with a
program on when by-elections are going to be conducted in the four
constituencies of those four officials who include three ministers but
also serving as members of parliament.

This latest development comes after the same party through its
spokesperson Mary Karooro Okurut directed the three ministers to
tender in their resignation from cabinet when NEC approves them
tomorrow following their appointment to the top positions in the NRM
secretariat.
NEC meets tomorrow Thursday at state house to among others things
approve the four appointees including SG, treasurer and their deputies
together with the five people whom Museveni appointed to sit on NRM
CEC.

The MPs who included among others caucus Treasurer Robinah Nabbanja,
Bukooli county MP Peter Okeyoh, Micheal Mawanda, Sarah Kayagi and
Medard Bitekerezo asked the four officials to resign and retreat to
the NRM secretariat as per the recent constitutional ammendments made
to the NRM constitution which requires them to be full time employees
of the party.
