The teachers want the contract signed by the Ministry of Education and Micro Finance Support Centre suspended saying the center is not mandated to manage Teachers SACCO funds.
They say they will not accept to borrow money from the center and warn all those those who are doing it that they are doing it at their own risk.
The teachers are not amused that contrary to an earlier agreement between the teachers and government to increase their salaries every financial year, government plans not give the 10% salary increment as agreed upon with the teachers in the next financial year 2015/2016.
Addressing a news conference today in Kampala, Uganda National Teacher’s Union General Secretary, James Tweheyo maintains that according to the budget draft papers from the Ministry of Education to the Ministry of Finance, the 10% salary increment has not been included and now demands that it be included before the union takes any further step.
