The Ministry of Health has launched a new electronic tool that will be used by both the ministry and Non Government Organizations to track on the resources that are allocated to maternal health programs across the country.
The electronic tool is expected to act as a new avenue to avert duplication of programs and accelerate better funding in the maternal health sub-sector.
The head of maternal health and newborns at Samasha Health Foundation, Cornelia Asiimwe says the reproductive maternal, newborn and child health resource tracking tool will strengthen accountability in the health system.
It’s estimated that over UGX.300 Billion is allocated to maternal health programs annually both by Civil Society Organizations and Government but most of this money is misappropriated by the players along the value chain.
