Parliament yesterday approved Government increase in visa fees for foreigners coming to Uganda. The move is intended to generate more revenue to finance accoding to Members of Parliament and Government

Details

Diplomatic passport charges increased from  150,000 shillings to 300,0000 shillings;

Officials passport charges hiked from   150,000 shillings to -300, 0000 shillings, double the amount;

Ordinary pass ports increased from  120,000 shillings to -150,000 shillings;

Work permit  fees increased  from  500 dollars to 1500dolars;

Single visa fees charges increased from 50dolars to 100000;

The mp for West Budama North Fox Odoi wanted the Fees for diplomatic passports to be charged at  500,000 shillings. He said that a good tax policy should impose a high burden for those that can afford it.
