The leader of opposition, Philip Wafula Oguttu, says that President Yoweri Museveni must explain to the nation the reasons for keeping Ugandan troops in South Sudan. Wafula says that the country is tired of spending its resources on the troops in South Sudan when there many items benefiting Ugandans which are not funded in the national budget.
He told journalists at Parliament that the increase of the national budget from 14.9 trillion shillings to 24 trillion shillings is unjustified because most funds go to unnecessary items like funding the UPDF in South Sudan.
Wafula was angry that the Ministry of Tourism was given 79 billion shillings yet it fetches 1.1 trillion shillings for the budget in the financial year. He described the coming budget as having 60% of it intended for consumption instead of focusing on creating more jobs for unemployed Ugandans especially the youth. He also called on the president to be democratic and allow the Lord Mayor to resume his office because there is no basis to bar him from the Lord Mayoral seat.
