With the term for the current Vice chancellor of Makerere university, Prof. Mondo Kagonyera, comes to an end on Octobter 23rd 2015, the institution has launched a new search for the new chancellor to replace Prof. Mondo. Addressing a press conference today at the university to announce the search, the acting Vice chancellor, Okello Ogwang says the search that kicks off today will run for one and a half months with a select committee of five members and chaired by Mr. Bruce Balaba Kabassa which will handle the nomination exercise process.
Okello also notes that the current Chancellor is not legible for serving the university after serving for the two terms accepted by the university act.
However, the chair of the search committee, Mr, Bruce Balaba Kabassa revealed that the terms of reference for all candidates include, integrity, ability to market the institution, relevant managerial skills, good level of education, financial status, and should be a Ugandan, among others. The search committee also added that they need not more than five candidates for the race to compete for the post and also maintain that the university needs that leader who will drive the university beyond the strides Prof. Mondo has taken it
