The opposition parties in parliament have opposed to the recalling of parliament from recess for parliament work next week. In a statement to journalists the leader of opposition Wafula Oguttu said that the recall of parliament for urgent business from 1st – 3rd September 2015 shows confusion in government.
The opposition is concerned that recalling Parliament on the new dates clash with the FDC Delegates’ Conference scheduled and gazetted months ago to elect the party Presidential flag bearer. Wafula said that the new date recalling parliament will deny the Forum For Democratic change members of parliament attending parliament work because all of them will be attending the conference.
In this vein , Wafula Oguttu has written to the Speaker of Parliament to reschedule the recall for parliament a third time , saying that if the dates are not changed, the FDC Members will not be in house for the so-called urgent business.
Parliament was recalled to deal with business which include the NGO Bill,Creation of districts ,Loan requests, the Lotteries and Gaming Bill, and the Supplementary Schedules 1, 2 and 3 for FY 2014/2015.
