NRM MPs allegedly forging academic papers are in trouble after the party’s Electoral Commission headed by Tanga Odoi seeks critical information from the Uganda National Examinations Board [UNEB].
The national examinations board was approached by the party’s legal experts to avail them with crucial information in relation to particulars of the aspirants who are under question.
The targeted aspirants are those who want to stand for LC5, Member of Parliament and president because according to the NRM EC, these positions have got academic requirements of Ordinary and Advanced level just like the national Electoral commission demands.
NRM Electoral Commission spokesperson Ofwono Opondo told reporters that UNEB has already provided the Electoral commission with specimen signatures, photographs and samples of certified copies.
He says that these technical documents are going to be used to determine whether the members under spotlight over fake papers went to school or not.
He says that the UNEB data is going to be used for comparison purposes by the EC and where there are variances, the concerned aspirants are going to be summoned to defend themselves, warning that those who know that they forged should just run away to avoid embarrassment.
Already, the NRM Electoral commission pinned a list of over 40 aspirants including ten MPs whose papers had been questioned.
