The Democratic Party leaders have urged the party flag bearers to work hard to gain support for the 2016 elections and enable the party win many elective posts. This call was during the flagging off of DP flag bearers in Mukono district by the party top leaders at St. Paul catholic church, Wantone in Mukono.
The party National Chairman, Beswale Kezala, warned DP flag bearers not to risk working for individual interests to gain wealth but to provide service to the community which will have voted them into office. The Buganda region vice president of the Democratic Party, Betty Nambooze Bakireke, and the MP for Busiro East. Merdad Segona, said that the party members should be ready to support one candidate with other opposition parties under The Democratic Alliance. Segona said that in Africa, there is no opposition party that can win elections single-handedly without support from other political parties.
Nambooze stressed that the party in the parliament should have more than 50 members of parliament, urging party members to have faith in the party flag bearers and warned them not to vote independent candidates.
The party National Treasurer, Isa Kikungwe, warned against the party members fighting the party and causing division.
