NRM deputy secretary general Richard Todwong has assured Ugandans that tomorrow’s NRM primaries for parliamentary, mayors and L.C5 flag bearers will take place. He said already, transportation of polling materials to their respective areas has been done under tight security.
Todwong blamed the suspension of today’s primaries on recent constitutional amendments made by parliament which allowed independents to defect. He added that the same parliament went ahead to create new constituencies yet the party electoral commission had already printed ballot papers with names of candidates. Todwong said that because of these changes, the party EC also had to adjust to accommodate the new changes and this resulted into reorganization of the whole electoral plan. He however, assured supporters that tomorrow, the elections are going to take place without any postponement.
