Producer Price Index report records increases in prices

The producer price index report released by UBOS indicates that prices for manufactured goods in the country registered an increase of 11.5% with the main driving factor being increased prices of goods in other sectors as well as the depreciation of the local currency against the dollar. Breaking down the report, the principal stastician in charge of business and industry, Wiliam Anguyo states that among others month prices changes of the goods from the factories were standing at 0.4%.

notes that goods like bricks, mattresses, cement among others registered consumer prices with processed foods increasing by 13.2%, sugar by 26.9%, processed coffee by 1.5%. The bureau confirms that consumers who went direct to factories to buy goods had to pay more by 11.7%
 

However, there was also a 4.8% increase in prices of construction goods which saw the increase in residential buildings prices by 6.9% attributing it to increased wage rates by 7.2%, cement by 4.1% among others with now the senior statistician Dick Wadada saying during the time of increased prices for construction goods, the country registered low construction works.
