The organizers of the first ever presidential live debate in Uganda are maintaining that all candidates must be present for the debate and will not give room for their representatives. According to the chairman of the elders’ forum of Uganda who are part of the organizers of the live debate, Justice James Ogola maintains that they have been in touch with all the eight candidates as well as their representatives discussing issues to do with the event and how it will be run.
There are still unconfirmed rumors that the NRM flag bearer will not attend the debate which the organizers have distanced but maintain that if he fails to appear then nothing will be done but to have those who will be present to articulate their issues.
The debates are slated for 15th January and early February this year and will mainly focus on national, regional and international issues.
