NRM presidential candidate Yoweri Museveni has pledged to assist land eviction victims in Hoima district. The president made the pledge after being informed that there are land wars in the district which the area RDC attributed to court orders that come even without proper verification of ownership of land. The RDC said that the poor people are the most affected because rich people use court orders to carry out evictions.
Addressing his fans at Kiziranfumbi secondary school play grounds in buhaguzi County, Museveni blamed the evictions on the RDC whom he said had failed to stop the evictions yet this is his work. He asked him to work with his office which has good lawyers so that the people can be helped in these matters of court. Museveni also promised to construct a technical school in every constituency in Hoima district as one way to equip youth with skills because according to him, much as many youth are now educated, they lack skills.
The president also warned people against sectarian politics, saying it is unity which has made NRM strong and the country. Museveni also campaigned in Hoima municipality, Bugangaizi West and Kigorobya where he promised to work on major roads connecting Hoima to other districts.
