DR. Congo and Ivory Coast qualify for the semi-finals of CHAN 2016, beating hosts Rwanda 2-1 and Cameroon 3-0 respectively in Saturday’s first quarter-final matches.
The DR.Congo dominated the game however it was until extra time that the Leopards scored to eliminate the Amavubi stars. Doxa Gikanji struck in 11th minute to put the Leopards in the lead before Jean-Claude Iranzi got an equalizer for the home boys in the second half to take the game into extra time.
DR Congo pressed hard for the winner in extra time but Rwanda kept them at bay.
with the game tied on 1-1, Padou Bompunga header put his team back in front after a costly mistake from the Amavubi stars defence to hand the Leopards a place in the last four of the tournament.
Ivory Coast humbled Cameroon, scoring three goals three goals in extra time after goalless in the 90 minutes. Koffi Boua, Atcho Djobo and Serge N’Guessan scopred for Ivory Coast to seal the hopes of the Indomitable Lions qualifying to the Semi-finals of the CHAN2016
The Ivoirians wait for the winners of Sunday’s Tunisia against Mali quarter-final. The semi final are scheduled 3rd February 2016.
