The electoral commission chairman Dr. Badru Kiggundu says the EC will not apologize to the Forum for Democratic change presidential candidate Dr. Kiiza Besigye over his statement that Besigye should have been disqualified from the presidential race on the basis of running defiant campaigns. He revealed this while raising a peace flag with the Turkish Ambassador to Uganda Ayse Sedef Yavuzalp by the Always Be Tolerant Organization (ABETO) held at Protea hotel in Kampala.
Kiggundu says that his statement against the defiant candidate was his mind and will not apologize over that matter.
Kiggundu says that if he had legal powers he should have cancelled the nomination of Dr. Besigye for consistent running of defiant campaigns which do not follow the laws. He says that FDC candidate should have exercised the character expected of the person seeking the high profiled seat of the land. He says that in future parliament should consider having a clause in the Presidential Election Act which severely punish such candidates with defiant characters when running for presidency.
The Turkish Ambassador to Uganda Ayse Sedef Yavuzalp says that there is no doubt Uganda will hold peaceful elections. The head of Always Be Torelant Organization Moses Musana calls the public to be peaceful during the voting perion and accept the winner and losers concede the defeat.
