The secretary general of DP also Bukoto south MP Matia Nsubuga Birekerawo says although the opposition has not met to decide on whom to support on the position of the speaker for the 10th parliament, his party will support the current speaker Rebecca Kadaga.
Birekerawo’s statement comes at the time when the NRM party chairman president Yoweri Museveni asked the members of his party currently meeting in kyankwanzi to stop any campaigns for the position of speaker or deputy until the central executive committee of the party decide on the matter. However Birekerawo says that Kadaga is still fit to steer the house.
Three people have shown interest for the post of speaker including foreign affairs minister Sam Kutesa, the current speaker Rebecca Kadaga and her deputy Jacob Oulanya. Others who want the position of deputy speaker include Monica Amoding National youth mp and Rwemiyaga county MP Theodore Sekikubo.
