The shadow internal affairs minister, Muwanga Kivumbi is insisting that various police commanders across the country are used to own and command militias that are now being used to beat up opposition supporters across the country.
In a security and human rights meeting held in Kampala, Hon. Kivumbi who was with no regrets confirms that the police is very much connected to the stick welding men who have on many occasions been used and seen beating up mainly opposition supporters under the hospice of the police force and its upon this that he now wants police to show accountability on this very matter.
He further mentions that the police has been hijacked and now being mixed with gangs that move masked and welding sticking.

However, the kampala south RPC Siraje Bakaleke cautions Kivumbi to go slow on his claims about the force saying no police commander has strong attachments to the stick welding men.
