Kampala Lord Mayor elect Erias Lukwago is disappointed in the Executive Director of KCCA for not inviting him to preside over the African cities meeting at Munyonyo. Lukwago said the KCCA act provides for the Lord Mayor to preside over such meetings but it is disappointing that the Executive Director is assuming his powers and he deserves an apology from the authority.
Lukwago said it’s wrong to sideline political leaders in the city yet the meeting is attended by mayors and other political leaders from other cities in Africa to deliberate on issues for development of cities. He is also not satisfied with circumstances under which the swearing in ceremony was postponed to 1st June which he says there are sinister motives to deny him access to office. He confirms that this time round he won’t be sworn in by the executive director as the case was last term because its illegal the ceremony can only be conducted by a magistrate.
