Steel made in Uganda

Government has been asked to support local content when procuring goods to be consumed or materials to be used in Uganda.

The comment comes at the time when Uganda is still grappling with alarming deficit emanating from low exports in relation to imports.

Now According to Allan Ssenyodwa, a policy analysts from Uganda Manufacturers Association, government still import goods from abroad yet the same are produced in Uganda, which cripples the development of industries in Uganda. He explained that government is now importing a lot of steel from China for construction of Dams in Uganda, yet many companies in Uganda can produce quality steel locally.
