The president of FDC Mugisha Muntu urged opposition MPs in parliament to always have a common voice as they build unity and consistency if they are to cause any successful change in the country. This as he witnessed the handover power of the office of the leader of opposition in parliament where Hon. Wafula Ogutu handed over office and other key instruments to the new LOP Winnie Kiiza.
He says its only when oppositions keeps together and go through the turbulence of the government, that’s when this country will receive change. Muntu says the issue of working together remains a challenge to the opposition and by being one, this is the only way they can give hope to Ugandans.
The leader of opposition Winnie Kiiza on receiving this office, she says its her wish that Ugandans witness president Museveni hand over power peacefully and urged him to embrace it as a culture that is now successfully growing amongst the opposition. The outgoing LOP Wafula Oguttu showed concern over the many accountability reports that are filed by the opposition and they are not allocated time of discussion on the floor of parliament sighting connivance by some key figures in parliament to fail their work warned MPs about being tricked with money in for any reasons while executing their work in parliament and this might tarnish their integrity.
Meanwhile, the Democratic party president Nobert Mao challenged the opposition leadership in parliament to always counsel different MPs who might fall challenging situations that comes along with being an MP and further asked them to ensure parliament can easily be an accessible place by electorates with out taking them through hustles when they come to meet their MPs.
