Mulago National Referral Hospital wants government to provide them with a supplementary budget of 3. 6 billion shillings.
Byaruhanga Baterana, the executive director of Mulago hospital told MPs seating on the Parliamentary Health Committee Chaired by Bukuya County MP, Micheal Bukenya, that the money is needed to be used for medication especially on buying equipment for the cesarean section, transporting medical workers, buying new cars to transport doctors from Mulago to Kiruddu and Kawempe.
He also says that the hospital is over whelmed by the number of patients who visit the referral adding that both Kawempe and Kiruddu hospitals were supposed to cater for 170 patients at a time but that currently, Kawempe alone receives over 300 patients while Kiruddu receives 200 patients a day hence a need to provide doctors with good working conditions to enable them deal with the patients.
