Buhweju district chief Administrative officer (CAO) Nathan Ayimbishibwe has asked members of parliament to give 10% of their allowances to the best serving CAO as a reward.
Ayimbishibwe while speaking at the meeting where local government accounts committee members of parliament was interfacing with CAOs and district finance officers at parliament blamed MPs for always ‘roasting’ them before accountability committees in presence of the media and labeling most of them thieves yet when they do good things are not reorganized.
In this vain he suggested that each MP should contribute 10 % of his or her allowance for the reward of the best accounting officers ward of the best accounting officers as a way of appreciating them for the good work and encouraging others accounting officers to perform to the standard.
He says that he has done a good job as accounting officer and he is about to retire but has never been appreciated.
The Member of Parliament for Kazo County in Kiruhura district Gordon Bafaki says that mps receive little allowances which cannot cater for contributing to paying for rewards.
The Ministry of fisheries has been asked to invest in fighting illegal fishing methods instead of bringing new breeds of fish species as proposed
The comment followed a proposal by the ministry of Fisheries to bring new fish types to help on increasing number of fish in the lake.
Carol Nanyondo the Member of Parliament for Kyamuswa county in Kalangala Islands said that the this method won’t work, if fishing methods are not tackled.
She said that breading areas needs to be safe guarded as well as increasing operations on illegal fishing gears.
