Opposition FDC has threatened to demonstrate against a proposal to lift the presidential age limit in the constitution.

According to one of the party’s activists Kantayomba Olive, the FDC youth wing is against this proposal which they claim is only intended to serve the interests of NRM party chairman Yoweri Museveni.

She told party supporters in Mutundwe-Lubaga division that tampering with this provision in the constitution would affect Uganda’s democratization process especially that regarding peaceful handover of power.

Last week, Nakifuma County MP Kafeero Ssekitoleko was given a green light by the speaker and tabled a motion in Parliament intended for removing the age-limit of Judges from 70-75, which sparked off criticisms from the opposition claiming that its ultimate goal is also to lift the presidential age cap of 75 years.
