Former Members of Parliament led by former Kajara County MP, Stephen Tashobya have formed a company that will deal in buying, drying, cleaning, storage, and selling of cereals and rearing of animals.
The Company being called Gravity Investment Company that is based in Kawempe aims at looking for produce from local farmers, and add value on the products before selling them to the final consumers.
The former legislators unveiled the plan while meeting the minister of agriculture Vincent Sempijja on Tuesday.
Sempijja pledged Government’s support to the company to enable the former legislators achieve their goal of getting the Ugandan farmers out of poverty , as the country transforms to the middle income economy.
One of the members Stephen Tashobya says that they will practically work with farmers in terms getting them markets, fertilizers and inputs and handling post-harvest loses which now stands at 44%.
